The Sunshine Coast Biosphere was designated in June 2022 and is internationally recognised as a member of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves. Located within the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area, the biosphere reserve extends across the hinterland to the coast and out to sea for three nautical miles. The Blackall Range is nestled within this beautiful landscape, which encompasses diverse ecosystems.

Flaxton
Between Montville and Mapleton, Flaxton is a tranquil village. Relax, savour delicious Devonshire teas and lunches, and explore unique arts and crafts.
- Kondalilla Falls Loop (4.7km):
- Popular walk with over 300 stairs.
- Consider walking counterclockwise to enjoy the swimming holes.
- Baxter Creek Falls: Enter from Flaxton Mill Road. Follow the road for 1.5km. Car park is on your right.
Maleny
Nestled in the heart of the Blackall Range, Maleny boasts a cool climate, lush hills, and a vibrant arts scene.

Mapleton

- Linda Garrett Circuit: Start at the information board and shelter. Walk 50m to Mapleton Falls lookout for stunning views of the Mary River Valley and Pencil Creek Falls.

Montville
Montville is a charming country village blending old-world charm with modern conveniences. The town offers a range of amenities, including a multi-denominational wedding chapel, a village green and community hall, and a large sports ground featuring a football field, tennis courts, and a woodworking centre.
